In Shanghai

Today I arrived safe and sound in Shanghai. After the past 10 days of travel, getting in around in a place with so much English is a breeze. I am staying at the Maggie International Youth Hostel. I really like the whole hostel thing - it's like instant friends wherever you go. Everyone is really nice, and you get to meet people and swap stories. Today I basically walked across Shanghai and saw most the main downtown area. It's a lot like Hong Kong, only not quite as polished and upscale. Tomorrow Chris Berry arrives, so I will finally have a travel companion.
